Artistic Director Finalists Announced

Portland Symphonic Choir is excited to announce three finalists in the search for a new Artistic Director: Erick Lichte, Dr. Samuel Barbara and Dr. Richard Sparks. Each candidate will present a concert during the 2017-18 season for which they have done all the artistic planning. Attendees of each concert will be able to provide feedback on the concert that may be considered in the selection of the final Artistic Director candidate.

Of the upcoming season, Katherine Lefever, Chair of Portland Symphonic Choir’s Board of Directors said, “The choir members are eager to begin this season’s rehearsals and work with each candidate who bring unique styles and a variety of experiences. As PSC approaches its 75th anniversary year in 2020, the choir is excited to select a new Artistic Director with a passion for choral excellence and a vision for the future of choral performances in our community, locally and regionally.”

Candidates were vetted and interviewed by a selection committee comprised of PSC Board Members, professional musicians, and representatives of PSC’s partner organizations.

The three finalists will each serve as a Guest Artistic Director for one concert of PSC’s 2017-18 performance season. For details of each concert and Guest Artistic Director, please click on the concert links below:
