Summer Sings!

What is Summer Sings!?

An annual celebration of choral music - open to all who love choral singing.

Three Wednesday evenings in July 2009, (see below) the Portland Symphonic Choir combines its voice with those of people from all over the community to sing some of the great works of choral literature. Our goal is to celebrate the joy of singing with everyone! Singers of any skill level are invited to join in -- shower singers included!

Summer Sings gives any singer the opportunity to sing great choral works with a large-scale choir made up of professional singers, PSC choir members, friends and neighbors. In several locations in and around Portland, PSC will bring the joy of singing these great choral works to many neighborhoods.

Who's invited?

Summer Sings! for 2009 is over but here's what happened:
Singers of all ages and abilities are invited to come, check out a score and sing along!!
Wednesday evenings at 7 pm Admission $10 per person
Tickets are available only at the door... first come, then sing!

For summer of 2009 we met on the three middle Wednesdays in July...
  • July 8 - Steven Zopfi directed the Stravinsky Symphony of Psalms
  • July 15 - Kathryn Lehmann directed the Brahms Requiem
  • July 22 - Ralph Nelson directed the Joy of Bach (Bach joy, anyone?)

They were held in air-conditioned comfort at Moriarty Arts and Humanities Building on the Cascade Campus of Portland Community College. (Corner of North Killingsworth and Albina) Parking is free on-campus.

Hundreds of people joined us and we all had a great time singing together!
