Celebrate the sounds of the season from around the world with the 140-member Portland Symphonic Choir as they present a Portland holiday tradition. Wintersong brings audiences great holiday choral music from many traditions, eras, and cultures performed by the region’s finest choral singers and instrumentalists.

This year, we are excited to perform Shawn Kirchner’s “Behold New Joy” featuring stunning accompaniment from brass and percussion! “To the scholar of the music of Christmas, nothing is more exciting than happening upon an obscure, nearly forgotten carol that still breathes with life,” wrote Kirchner. “For centuries, such carols have been dusted off, reshaped, and shared anew, bringing fresh bursts of Christmas joy to the festivities of the season.” We are excited to share this work with you, performed for the first time in Portland!!

The Choir is happy to welcome special guests to perform with us!

  • Saturday – Evergreen High School’s Chamber Choir from Vancouver, WA, under the direction of Michael Day
  • Sunday – Reynolds High School’s Pro Cantorum Choir from Troutdale, OR, under the direction of Karen Bohart

Whether you’re a long-time choral music fan, music lover, or looking for a new holiday tradition, Wintersong is a great way to spend a winter evening or afternoon. Tickets will sell out, so don’t delay, purchase your tickets today.
