Summer Sings I
Masterwork

Join Portland Symphonic Choir for the first Summer Sings event of 2026 and experience Verdi's Requiem from the inside. Led by PSC Artistic Director Dr. Alissa Deeter, this community sing-along invites singers of all backgrounds to explore one of the most beloved choral masterworks ever written. With its soaring melodies, dramatic intensity, and breathtaking beauty, Verdi's Requiem is a work best understood not only by hearing it, but by being a part of it. Come sing with us and discover why generations of musicians and audiences have been moved by this timeless masterpiece.

Know Before You Go

Scores: Scores will be provided. For those who prefer a tablet or electronic reader, you can download a PDF of the Requiem here.

Run Time: 1 hour 45 minutes with one 15-minute break.

Parking: The Taborspace parking lot is on SE Belmont & 54th Ave. Guests are encouraged to try parking there first, but if there is no space available, there is street parking available around the premises.

Summer Sings II
Deep Dive

PSC's Summer Sings: DEEP DIVE continues our commitment to investigating excellent choral music that exist outside of the standard canon. Dr. Steven Lewis will help us explore Ethel Smyth’s powerful Mass In D--a work that, despite its warm reception at its premiere in 1893, fell into obscurity only to be rediscovered in the last 5 years.

Know Before You Go

Scores: Due to limited score availability, we encourage participants to download the PDF of Mass in D to a tablet or e-reader before the event. The score is available here.

To make the music accessible to everyone, we will also project the score on a screen at the front of the hall. A small number of printed photocopies will be available, though supplies are extremely limited.

Never used a tablet for a sing-along before? No problem! Bring your device with you, and one of our technical volunteers will be happy to help you get set up at check-in.

Run Time: 1 hour 45 minutes with one 15-minute break.

Parking: Information coming soon!
