From Wendy: I am so excited about our first Summer Sings this year, led by our very own Ralph Nelson. Ralph joined the Portland Symphonic Choir in 1981 and has served the Choir in many different capacities including Executive Director, Board Chair, and now our Tenor Section Leader. Ralph has assembled his own favorite mass using movements by Bach, Mozart, Haydn, and Byrd. It’s sure to be entertaining and informative. I look forward to seeing you on Zoom Monday. Let’s keep singing!
From Alissa: Welcome to week 3 of our Let's Get Singing Again series! This week, we investigate ways to vocalize that don't always require defined pitch to be successful and we start looking more closely at the vowels of “An die Musik." All these lessons and vocalise sheets can be found on the Members and Alumni/Guest pages of our website (scroll down the website page). (Dale's note: this week's installment is one of the more humorous I've seen. "Dying Cow" should now be a standard for us! Watch Alissa's video to see what I mean.)
Remember to send your "count me in" email to Alejandra Blech (aleblech@gmail.com) if you are planning to sing in the special choir at the memorial service for former PSC member John Salmon. Additional details are in last week's Noteworthy News.
Please also know that, as announced last week, the Portland Symphonic Choir "is a fully vaccinated choir" against COVID-19.
