Important upcoming dates:

  • Monday, January 25, 7 pm 1st session, Virtual Masterworks Series (Zoom)

  • Monday, February 22, 7 pm 2nd session, Virtual Masterworks Series (Zoom)

Our first meeting of the Virtual Masterworks Series is just around the corner. January's session will be exploring the Verdi Requiem with Josh Habermann, currently the Director of the Santa Fe Desert Chorale as well as the Chorus Director of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Here is a LINK for more information about our guest. The special Zoom access code for Choir members is HERE. It will also be streamed via our YouTube channel. The choral score for us to read (sing) will be shared as a part of the meeting.

Portland Symphonic Choir's Masterworks Series is a special opportunity for us to work with conductors from outside the Portland area who have expertise in the work presented. These four Zoom gatherings are designed to add a depth of understanding of the work while giving us the opportunity to get together (virtually) and keep singing. The February session will feature the Beethoven Missa Solemnis and Duain Wolfe, Director of the Chicago Symphony Chorus. March will focus on the Faure Requiem and Elena Sharkova, Artistic Director of Cantabile Youth Singers (San Francisco area). In April, we will enjoy singing the Durufle Requiem with Eugene Rogers, Director of choirs and associate professor of conducting at the University of Michigan. Please note that both March and April sessions will be on Tuesdays (March 23 and April 27).

From Wendy Bamonte: Remember that PSC has opened our virtual season to guest singers. Usually, we would have auditions in January but this year we are inviting all to join us for the remainder of our season which includes our Masterworks Series. We have a stellar line-up of conductors and music by Verdi, Beethoven, Faure, and Durufle. Please invite your friends to join us for this fantastic series – no audition required – just come sing! And for what we are now calling "Wintersong highlights" (minus the union-based instrumental numbers) here is the Link to that memorable virtual concert.

In the FYI department, our Board of Directors usually meets the second Tuesday of each month. The minutes for those meetings are posted in the Members section of our website. (Link)
