Noteworthy News, July 23, 2021

Important upcoming dates:

It has been over a year and this coming Monday (July 26) is our first opportunity to get together in person for singing and some visiting (Vocalize & Socialize) at the Multnomah Arts Center (map). 

  • Please remember to bring your COVID-19 vaccination card (or photo). As a convenience, you may email an image of the card to Claire (claire@pschoir.org) and she will note on the PSC Membership list that your vaccination has been confirmed. Vaccination is required to participate in all Choir activities.

  • Bring a chair to sit on (such as a lawn chair). There are no chairs provided by the Multnomah Arts Center

  • When you arrive, please stop at the check-in table then proceed to pick up a packet of music before joining your section of singers.

  • There are three parking lots, two with entrances from Capitol Highway and one from 31st Street. See the attached map for more details of the Multnomah Arts Center. Note that the bathrooms are not available to us.

From Alissa: We are upon our last installment of our Let's Get Ready To Sing Again lesson series, this time a mere 12 minutes in length! I hope you have enjoyed building up your vocal strength and stamina, investigating the foundations of vocal technique, and applying those core concepts to our 2 songs, An Die Musik and Drink To Me Only With Thine Eyes. You can still access all the lesson videos and vocalise sheets as well as the PDFs of the music on the Members and Alumni/Guest pages of our website (scroll down the website page).

“Voice Checks" for returning PSC members will be accomplished separately from auditions. An email was sent Friday afternoon (July 16) to every Choir member with specific voice check information (you will or will NOT need to perform a voice check). Excerpts from the Missa Solemnis will be used this year. Specific information is in your customized email. Regardless of when you auditioned or last sang a voice check, Choir members who participated in at least 70% of our 2020-21 Virtual Season (October through May) will NOT have to sing for Alissa and Wendy at this time. If you have not received the voice check email, please email Claire right away (claire@pschoir.org).
