Reminder: Annual Meeting, Monday, July 20, at 7 pm using Zoom. Details are forthcoming.
From Wendy: Pianist Dareion Malone from Charlotte NC will be joining us on Monday to work on Lift Every Voice and Sing. Here is a bit of info about him: Dareion has performed nationally and internationally, including West Africa, South Africa, and Europe. His stage credits include performances with Celine Dion, Dolly Parton, and other mainstream recording artists. Dareion’s baritone voice has been featured in numerous ensembles as well as principal opera roles. He has appeared as a soloist with the Charlotte Symphony and Chorus as well as other regional ensembles. His works have included Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, Handel’s Messiah, and Faure’s Requiem. Currently, Dareion is the choral music instructor at Hopewell High School in Huntersville, NC, where he is rebuilding the program after a two-year hiatus due to budget cuts. Much of his time is given to creating ways to provide access to quality music education for all students, especially those situated in areas that have been marginalized. Dareion is also the Chorus Master at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and serves as the accompanist for the Men’s Chorus.
We have only 3 rehearsals remaining for Lift Every Voice and Sing. Dorcas will be leading the last two rehearsals. All are welcome to join us!
From Alissa: Deeterabend is going to be rescheduled for mid-July. I didn't realize how many people would be "going on vacation" this week. Anyone interested in singing should be in touch with me (alissa@pschoir.org).
Upcoming Choral (musical) events of Note: The Shows Must Go On series on YouTube features a recording of a live presentation of The Sound of Music with Carrie Underwood in the lead role. As in the past, these presentations are available for free streaming beginning Friday midday until 11 Sunday morning.
