Please remember to complete the Artistic Leadership survey this week: https://forms.gle/C4ZNHcYJXzE4zVsH9. You will note the survey asks for your email address. This is merely to filter possible duplicate submissions. Email addresses will be removed before the survey responses are tabulated.
Virtual Sing: Monday, May 25 social time begins at 6:45 with warmups at 7 pm. We will be using Zoom with a new access code https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84875891208?pwd=dUZIK2N4dWQ0cy8xTWg3cWJxT0l2UT09. Remember, if you have the option, you will want to use a device with the largest screen. If you plan on using a Tablet or Smartphone, please download the app before our meeting. You will also want to create an account with Zoom before the meeting. Most of us are using the free version.
We are now working on TWO pieces: the Biebl Ave Maria and Abendlied by Josef Rheinberger. The music for both is available within the new Members section of our website, pschoir.org (password is pschoir) as are several study aides and score markings.
Notice the new section in the Members Area, cleverly labeled Instructions to Record Ave Maria. There are some great helpful hints, the 2 accompaniment/conductor tracks, and reminders such as:
You will want to use 2 different devices and a set of headphones: One device (ie. laptop/desktop/tablet) to play the YouTube video of the accompaniment with Alissa's directing AND a second device (iPhone/smartphone) to record just the audio of your singing while listening to the YouTube video playing on the first device. Use headphones with the first device (play the accompaniment) so your recording does not include the sound from YouTube.
Remember that there are 2 "sections" to record and email to Alissa (alissa@pschoir.org). If your computer/phone complains about the email size, try sending each section as its own email. If still a problem, contact Alissa for assistance.
The Photo/video application on your Smartphone was used for the video files already sent to Alissa. (If you haven't completed yours, it's not too late.) Use a Voice Memo application (or similar app such as Google Recorder) for the 2 audio files.
Alissa is loving the audio/video files being sent to her for the Virtual Choir Project: Please keep them coming! We would love to have more of you participate in the fun on Monday evenings as we build a product that will be forward-facing to the online community. It will include video clips of you making music at home. We want as many of our members as possible represented in that footage. Most folks have had success using their smartphone (iPhone).
From Wendy: Our first brainstorming task force meeting is scheduled for Wednesday evening, May 27. Please contact me if you would like to participate: wbamonte@comcast.net. (See last week's Noteworthy News for more details).
Upcoming Choral (musical) events of Note: Nothing to recommend this week!
