Virtual Sing: Monday, June 1, social time begins at 6:45 with warmups at 7 pm. We will be using Zoom with access code https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84875891208?pwd=dUZIK2N4dWQ0cy8xTWg3cWJxT0l2UT09.
We are now working on TWO pieces: the Biebl Ave Maria and Abendlied by Josef Rheinberger. The music for both is available within the new Members section of our website, pschoir.org (password is pschoir) as are several study aides and score markings. This is the last run-through for the Biebl so folks can have one more chance to practice it before we close the door on this part of the project. And a big THANK YOU to everyone who has already sent their recordings. Alissa says, "they are a delight!" For detailed recording instructions, notice the section in the Members Area, cleverly labeled Instructions to Record Ave Maria.
Our regularly scheduled Board Meeting is next Tuesday, June 2 at 6:30 pm. Due to the pandemic, it will be a Zoom meeting. As we near the end of our operating year (June 30), this meeting promises to cover important topics such as how we're going to end the year financially (it's a time to encourage friends and relatives to donate -- see our Web Page for an update on the $10,000 Challenge), what budget will be agreed to for our 75th Anniversary Season (2020-21) and what activities will be planned for that season. Please let me know if you would like to attend and I'll forward Zoom connection information to you.
I regard my primary duties as Choir President are to communicate regularly with the Choir membership and represent your desires and concerns with the Board. Toward that end, I have created a very brief survey (less than 5 minutes) asking your opinion on PSC activities in our immediate future. It's certainly an unusual time to plan, given the priority of health concerns in our community. I'm asking for your personal perspective on what matters to you and thank you in advance for your response. (Link to survey) This information will be helpful to me in next week's Board meeting.
From Wendy: We held our first Brainstorming Task Force meeting last Wednesday. Many thanks to those who attended. The creative juices were flowing and many great ideas emerged. We are still in "brainstorming mode" so please feel free to send ideas our way. This task force will continue to meet and all are welcome to join. Please email me if you would like to join us or send me an idea: wbamonte@comcast.net. No idea is a bad idea.
Upcoming Choral (musical) events of Note: In a resumption of The Shows Must Go On series on YouTube, this week's production is Hairspray, broadcast by NBC in 2016 and stars Jennifer Hudson, Martin Short, and Kristin Chenoweth (among others). Here is the link. It will be streaming for free this weekend until Sunday at 11 am PDT.
