Noteworthy News, September 18th
This week's headline: Hooray For Rain!
Carmina Burana is the featured work for next Monday's second (and last) gathering for this year's September Sings! World-renowned conductor Imre Pallo (bio) will lead us in a reading of selections from the work. Similar to last week, we are streaming the event via YouTube so non-choir folks can have an easy method to connect and enjoy the music as well as whatever stories Maestro Pallo will be sharing. Choir members and alumni should connect via the Zoom link. We are using the 2014 PSC recording of Carmina. Monday, September 21, 7 pm. The Zoom "room" will be open as early as 6:45 for socializing.
Special note on preparing for Carmina: A copy of the music will be projected on Zoom/YouTube. It is highly recommended that you use a computer with a large screen. Questions are encouraged via the "chat" feature in Zoom and YouTube.
From Alissa: We really need photos and videos of old performances of the Choir. This year's Wintersong concert will include many images from the Choir's history that will be shown with various seasonal recordings from past PSC performances. If you have old photos or newspaper clippings of Portland Symphonic Choir activities, please share them via the Legacy Project Upload button on the Member page of the website (pswd=pschoir). Questions? Contact Allissa (alissa@pschoir.org).
From Wendy: Our Lift Every Voice project continues to receive accolades and is receiving donations for the local nonprofit Don't Shoot Portland until the end of September. The video will still be viewable on YouTube and our website indefinitely. Please share the YouTube link with your friends and include the link for donations to this worthwhile cause
