Concert Week!

  • Monday, December 6, 7 - 10, rehearsal, FPC

  • Wednesday, December 8, 7 - 10, rehearsal, FPC

  • Friday, December 10, 7 - 10, rehearsal, FPC

  • Saturday, December 11, 6:30 call (7:30 Concert), FPC

  • Sunday, December 12, 2:00 call (3:00 Concert), FPC

Remember that everyone's attendance is expected for all rehearsals during concert week (jell week) and that rehearsals are traditionally scheduled during this time to run as late as 10, depending on how things are going.

This is a good time to "load" your music into the fancy concert folders in performance order (see below). Be sure to include your music envelope in the back pocket to facilitate the turning in of the scores Sunday afternoon.

Sunday afternoon's concert will be "live streamed." The link will be on our website.

On the subject of future dates, "half-year" auditions for new choir members are planned for Monday, January 10 (precise time TBA - refer your friends to our website and the "join" tab). Our rehearsals resume on Monday, January 24 to prepare the Beethoven Missa Solemnis. OMF says the plan is for concerts to be on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1. More details will be forthcoming.

From Claire: Please remember to bring your official Singers Mask to all rehearsals and of course, our concerts. I no longer have any spares and our supplemental order is apparently on a container ship somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. This week is a great time to wash your mask and replace the white filter (see instructions on the back of the "reusable hygienic transport bag" or their website (link).

Volunteers Needed --

Risers and Stage Set/Strike Crew: We need 6 Choir members to assist with risers plus a few extras for the placement of HEPA filters and other things throughout the dress rehearsal week. Want to volunteer? Please contact our Stage Manager, Jerry Nelson: gjnpmp@gmail.com .

Ushers and Vax Card/Ticket checkers: Do you have a family member who loves to volunteer? Does your high school student need Honors Society volunteer hours? While there are no box office sales this year, we need at least 3 ushers and 2 vax card/ticket checkers each concert night. Email Claire with names and their contact info (claire@pschoir.org).

From Wendy: Thank you so much for your patience this past Monday as we moved people around finding the best sound for the space. I am excited by what I am hearing and look forward to our concerts! We have more logistical work to do this coming Monday as we are adding instrumentalists and practicing getting on and off the standing area. Thank you in advance for helping us get through these logistics. If you have never sung the Hallelujah Chorus, please practice it before Monday!

Our Wintersong concerts have turned into a unique opportunity for us to partner with First Presbyterian Church and support one of their partners, Rose Haven Day Shelter for Women and Children. We are inviting our audience to bring “Winter clothes for Wintersong” including new hats, gloves, and scarves that will be given to Rose Haven. You are invited to bring these items to our concert too. First Presbyterian is a great new home for PSC and I am so pleased that we get to support Rose Haven and FPF with these donations.

From Alissa: We are almost there -- your hard work is paying off but don't stop now! Keep on working on those little stinker spots (you know where they are!!) that make you think twice or otherwise second-guess yourself. Spot check those places where changes have been made to ensure you know what to do. Check those last few pronunciations or dynamic markings. Your diligence makes us stronger and better than ever!
