Our next Masterworks experience is coming up on Tuesday, March 23. Yes, this is a change from our usual Monday routine due to "artist availability." (Also true for the April Masterwork session). Elena Sharkova will be leading us in the Faure Requiem. Please connect to Zoom warmed up and ready to learn and sing with our guest conductor. Everyone is welcome to connect a few minutes early to enjoy some social time. For today, please enjoy another "fun Faure fact" that is attached to this edition of Noteworthy News. For more information about our guest conductor, please visit our website. Her resume is quite impressive.
Get ready for Trivia Night in April. Daryl Browne is organizing teams and needs to receive an email from folks who are planning on participating. Her email address is daryl.browne54@gmail.com. We will use the technical wizardry of Zoom in an hour or so of fun. Current Choir members, alumni, and guest members are all welcome.
From our Board Chair, Katherine Lefever: As many of us are receiving our government stimulus checks this week, please consider making a donation to PSC if you are in a position to do so. It only takes a moment to donate online and every gift makes a difference, no matter the size. We are making it through this challenging year because of the generosity of donor support, alumni, and Choir member donations. If you have already made a gift to the Choir, thank you so much for your generosity!
We are still collecting ideas for getting together in person at an outdoor site, such as a park or “in the stands of a high school football stadium.” If you know of a particular location that should be considered, please email your idea to Jayde (jayde@pschoir.org). The “winning idea(s)” will receive a fabulous prize!
Our next brainstorming session has been moved to Monday, March 29 at 7 pm. If you are interested, please let Wendy know so she can send to you the Zoom meeting link (wendy@pschoir.org).
Thank you to the folks who submitted their Top 10 PSC performances as a part of celebrating our 75th Anniversary. Alissa says that there is still time for your vote to be tallied. A listing is attached itemizing works performed going back to 1980. Please go to our website to list your choices (pschoir.org/top-10). Similar to the invitation to participate in the Trivia Night in April, everyone is welcome to "vote." (note: you are not required to list 10 performances. Any number up to 10 is fine!). Your memories and recollections of past performances help inform us as we plan our future seasons. We want to hear from you!
Upcoming Choral (musical) events of Note:
From Choir Alum (accompanist) Carol Rich: Sadly, I wasn't able to share my news with Bruce before his passing but he knew I was writing a book that included a mention of him and Choral Cross-ties. I'd love to spread the word to the PSC community. I trust that many people would be interested in knowing about it. My book is titled, Life in Miniatures: a view from the piano bench. It's available on Amazon as an ebook and in paperback, but if friends in the choir object to Amazon, I'm happy to get a copy to them personally. I was the accompanist for PSC for twenty-five years, etc. Here is the link: Carol Rich, Life in Miniatures: a view from the piano bench
From Choir Alum Anne Kolibaba Larkin: Light Opera of Portland, an all-volunteer, non-profit, performing arts organization, is seeking a new Artistic Director. The successful candidate will be expected to work with the Board and Producer, and oversee the appointed Stage Director of each production, as well as the Stage manager, Choreographer, Costume Director, to ensure and maintain artistic consistency of all productions and ultimately be responsible for the formulation, planning, and implementation of the artistic vision of LOoP. The Artistic Director may serve as the Stage Director when appropriate. Please note that at this time, this is a volunteer, non-compensated opportunity. Interested?
