Get ready for Trivia Night, our next Choir activity. Daryl Browne is organizing teams and needs to receive an email from folks who are planning on participating (daryl.browne54@gmail.com). We will use the technical wizardry of Zoom in an hour or so of fun. Current Choir members, alumni, and guest members are all welcome.
The next Masterworks experience is planned for Tuesday, April 27th. Yes, this is a change from our usual Monday routine due to "artist availability." Eugene Rogers will be leading us in the Duruflé Requiem. For more information about our guest conductor, please visit our website.
From co-director Wendy Bamonte: What a treat it was to sing through the wonderful Fauré Requiem last Tuesday. I hope you found solace in this music for the living. And next month we get to sing through another moving requiem -- this one by Maurice Duruflé. Although this is a twentieth century work, the composer based much of the material on Gregorian chant. Duruflé said this about his piece, “Charaterstics of Gregorian style include holiness, lyricism, free flowing meter (hence many of the metric changes found in the Requiem) and serenity." Tune in April 27 7:00 pm for a night of serene beauty!
Our next brainstorming session has been moved to Monday, March 29 at 7 pm. If you are interested in attending, please let Wendy know so she can send the Zoom meeting link to you (wendy@pschoir.org).
From Board Chair, Katherine Lefever: As many of us are receiving our government stimulus checks, please consider making a donation to PSC if you are in a position to do so. It only takes a moment to donate online and every gift makes a difference, no matter the size. We are making it through this challenging year because of the generosity of donor support including Choir members. If you have already made a gift to the Choir, thank you so much for your generosity.
We are still collecting ideas for getting together in person at an outdoor site, such as a park or “in the stands of a high school football stadium.” If you know of a particular location that should be considered, please send an email to Jayde (jayde@pschoir.org). The “winning idea(s)” will receive a fabulous prize!
Thank you to the folks who submitted their Top 10 PSC performances as a part of celebrating our 75th Anniversary. Alissa says that there is still time for your vote to be tallied. A listing is attached itemizing works performed going back to 1980. Please go to our website to list your choices (pschoir.org/top-10). Similar to the invitation to participate in the Trivia Night in April, everyone is welcome to "vote." (note: you are not required to list 10 performances. Any number up to 10 is fine!). Your memories and recollections of past performances help inform us as we plan our future seasons. We want to hear from you!
